In medical emergencies, we are here for you during office hours.
In Switzerland you are not supposed to go to the emergency ward unless you are severely ill or injured. In case of illness you usually go to see a general practitioner (emergency consultations are usually possible the same or next day). If an injury/illness occurs on a weekend you can go to a so- called permanence, or in more serious cases to the emergency ward of a hospital.
An AED is a medical device that can independently analyze the heart rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electric shock.
During a cardiac arrest, every minute is crucial. With each minute that a cardiac arrest goes untreated, the chance of successful resuscitation decreases by approximately 10%. Consequently, after 10 minutes, the chances of survival drop close to zero.
Outside of office hours (night/weekend), the Medical Emergency Service of the Canton of Lucerne is available to you in non-life-threatening emergencies: The emergency service is provided by general practitioners. We also provide service at the emergency clinic at Wolhusen Hospital.
